When a garage door won't close in Salinas, the safety sensors are the usual suspect — but a few other issues can be behind it too. It's almost always fixable the same day.

There's a local angle to a garage door won't close in Salinas: the area's coastal salt air and inland heat is hard on garage doors — salt air corrodes hardware, and inland heat strains openers. Our Salinas techs see these failures spike around every late-summer heat wave, so they track down the real cause instead of masking the symptom.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door won't close

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

Blocked or misaligned safety sensors

If the photo-eyes don't see each other, the door reverses by design. A bump, cobweb, or dirty lens is often all it takes.

Something in the door's path

A trash can, tool, or even a small object can trip the safety reversal.

A bad limit setting

If the close-limit is off, the opener thinks the door has already closed.

Worn rollers or track damage

Binding in the tracks can stop the door partway and trigger a reversal.

How we fix it
