A garage door that feels too heavy in Salinas almost always means the springs are worn or broken. A properly balanced door should lift with one hand.

There's a local angle to a garage door feels too heavy in Salinas: the area's coastal salt air and inland heat is hard on garage doors — salt air corrodes hardware, and inland heat strains openers. Our Salinas techs see these failures spike around every late-summer heat wave, so they track down the real cause instead of masking the symptom.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door feels too heavy

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

Worn or broken springs

Tired springs no longer counterbalance the door's weight.

An undersized spring

A spring not matched to the door makes it heavy and wears fast.

Binding rollers or tracks

Friction adds to the felt weight.

How we fix it

Fixed fast by a local Salinas pro

We measure the door, install the correct springs, service the rollers, and balance-test so it lifts effortlessly.
