A loud bang from the garage in Utica is the unmistakable sound of a torsion spring snapping. The door will likely feel very heavy or refuse to open.

Why does this keep happening in Utica? A lot of it comes down to the local climate. Freezing winters takes its toll — cold snaps brittle springs, and road salt corrodes hardware — so a loud bang from the garage is one of the more common calls our Utica crews run.
