A blinking garage door sensor in Santa Fe almost always means the two photo-eyes aren't seeing each other. It's usually a quick alignment or cleaning.

Living with Santa Fe's freezing cold and heavy snow means garage doors work harder here than most people realize. ice freezes doors shut and high-altitude sun cracks seals both feed straight into a garage door sensor blinking, which is why our Santa Fe County techs treat the cause, not just the door in front of them.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door sensor blinking

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

Misalignment
A bumped bracket throws the sensors out of line and they start blinking.
Dirt or sun glare on the lens
A dusty lens or direct sun can break the beam.
A damaged sensor wire
A pinched or chewed wire interrupts the signal.
