A garage door that opens slowly in New Haven is often dry rollers, a weak opener, or a speed setting. A tune-up usually solves it.

There's a local angle to a garage door opens slowly in New Haven: the area's freezing winters is hard on garage doors — cold snaps brittle springs, and snow & ice jam tracks. Our New Haven techs see these failures spike around every January cold snap, so they track down the real cause instead of masking the symptom.

What might be wrong

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

Some openers have an adjustable travel speed.
An aging opener motor
