When a garage door reverses before closing in Miami, the safety sensors or close-force settings are usually to blame. It's a same-day fix in most cases.

Why does this keep happening in Miami? A lot of it comes down to the local climate. Heat and humidity takes its toll — humidity corrodes hardware, and falling limbs dent panels — so a garage door reverses before closing is one of the more common calls our Miami crews run.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door reverses before closing

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

Misaligned safety sensors

If the photo-eyes are slightly off, the opener reverses to be safe.

A close-force or limit set too tight

When the force setting is off, the opener senses "resistance" and backs off.

Track binding near the floor

A bent track or worn roller at the bottom can trigger the reversal.

How we fix it
