A garage door remote that won't work in Lafayette is often just batteries or a quick reprogram. If those don't do it, the opener's receiver may need a look.

Why does this keep happening in Lafayette? A lot of it comes down to the local climate. Heat and Gulf humidity takes its toll — humidity rusts springs & cables, and storm season batters doors — so a garage door remote not working is one of the more common calls our Lafayette crews run.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door remote not working

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

Dead batteries
The most common cause by far — swap in a fresh battery first.
A remote that needs reprogramming
Remotes can lose their pairing after a power event and need to be re-synced.
A failing opener receiver or antenna
A bent antenna or worn logic board weakens the signal.
How we fix it

Fixed fast by a local Lafayette pro

We test and reprogram the remote, check the opener's receiver and antenna, and make sure every remote and keypad works reliably.
