Living with Hempstead's freezing winters means garage doors work harder here than most people realize. snow & ice jam tracks and road salt corrodes hardware both feed straight into a garage door only opens partway, which is why our Nassau County techs treat the cause, not just the door in front of them.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door only opens partway

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

A weak or broken spring

Without full tension, the opener stalls before the door is up.

An open-limit set too low

The opener stops early because it thinks the door is fully open.

Track binding or worn rollers

Friction partway up halts travel.
