A garage door that slams shut in Gilbert has lost the spring tension that controls its descent — a serious safety issue we treat as urgent.

Why does this keep happening in Gilbert? A lot of it comes down to the local climate. Relentless 100°+ desert heat takes its toll — 100°+ heat fries openers, and sun bakes & warps panels — so a garage door slams shut is one of the more common calls our Gilbert crews run.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door slams shut

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

A broken spring
With no counterbalance, the full weight of the door drops fast.
A snapped cable
A failed cable removes the control on one or both sides.
A failed opener or worn pulley
Worn lift hardware can let the door fall.
How we fix it

Fixed fast by a local Gilbert pro

We secure the door, replace the spring or cable, and confirm a controlled, balanced close before we leave.
