When a garage door reverses before closing in Elk Grove, the safety sensors or close-force settings are usually to blame. It's a same-day fix in most cases.

In Elk Grove, the weather is often part of the story behind a garage door reverses before closing. Months of coastal salt air and inland heat mean salt air corrodes hardware and daily use wears rollers across Sacramento County — exactly the kind of wear a local tech knows to check first.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door reverses before closing

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

Misaligned safety sensors

If the photo-eyes are slightly off, the opener reverses to be safe.

A close-force or limit set too tight

When the force setting is off, the opener senses "resistance" and backs off.

Track binding near the floor

A bent track or worn roller at the bottom can trigger the reversal.
