A garage door remote that won't work in Carmel is often just batteries or a quick reprogram. If those don't do it, the opener's receiver may need a look.

A garage door remote not working rarely happens in a vacuum. Carmel's freezing winters wears doors down — summer storms surge openers — and we get a clear run of these calls every January cold snap. A local pro fixes the underlying cause and backs it with a one-year warranty.

The most common cause by far — swap in a fresh battery first.

A remote that needs reprogramming

Remotes can lose their pairing after a power event and need to be re-synced.

A bent antenna or worn logic board weakens the signal.
