When a garage door reverses before closing in Cambridge, the safety sensors or close-force settings are usually to blame. It's a same-day fix in most cases.

Living with Cambridge's freezing winters means garage doors work harder here than most people realize. snow & ice jam tracks and road salt corrodes hardware both feed straight into a garage door reverses before closing, which is why our Middlesex County techs treat the cause, not just the door in front of them.

What might be wrong

Common causes when your garage door reverses before closing

Here's what our local techs check first — and what each one usually means.

Misaligned safety sensors

If the photo-eyes are slightly off, the opener reverses to be safe.

A close-force or limit set too tight

When the force setting is off, the opener senses "resistance" and backs off.

Track binding near the floor

A bent track or worn roller at the bottom can trigger the reversal.
