LiftMaster Repair & Service

LiftMaster is one of the most trusted names in garage door openers, found on more American homes than just about any other brand. Built by the Chamberlain Group, they're known for tough belt- and chain-drive units, smartphone control through the myQ app, and battery backup that keeps you moving when the power's out. We install, repair, and tune up every LiftMaster opener out there, so whatever model is bolted to your ceiling, we know it inside and out.

Common issues

Common LiftMaster problems we fix

myQ won't connect or keeps dropping Wi-Fi

LiftMaster's myQ app is great when it works, but a lot of homeowners call us frustrated that their opener won't pair or keeps going offline. Usually it's a weak Wi-Fi signal reaching the garage, a router that needs the 2.4GHz band turned on, or firmware that's fallen behind. We'll get it talking to your phone again and show you how to keep it that way.

The opener runs but the door doesn't move

If you hear the motor humming but nothing happens, the drive belt or chain may have slipped, the trolley may have disconnected, or the gear-and-sprocket inside the motor head may have stripped out — a common wear item on older LiftMaster units. We'll pinpoint which it is and fix it in one visit rather than guessing.

Safety sensors causing the door to reverse

Those little photo-eye sensors near the floor are the number one reason a LiftMaster won't close — a blinking sensor LED, a bumped bracket, or a dirty lens will make the door roll right back up. It's often a quick realignment, and we'll make sure both sensors are reading each other correctly so the door behaves again.

Remotes or keypad suddenly stopped working

When your LiftMaster remote or wireless keypad quits, it's usually a dead battery, a lost programming code after a power surge, or interference on the Security+ 2.0 frequency. We can reprogram your remotes, MyQ-enabled accessories, and exterior keypad on the spot and get every device working from one system again.

Loud grinding, rattling, or banging

A LiftMaster that's gotten noisy is usually telling you something — worn rollers, a loose chain, a failing trolley, or dry rail that needs lubrication. Chain-drive models naturally run louder than belt-drive, but a sudden new noise is worth a look before it turns into a breakdown. We'll quiet it down and catch the small stuff early.

Battery backup beeping or not holding a charge

Many LiftMaster models include a backup battery so the door still opens during an outage — required by law on new installs in some states. When that battery ages out, you'll hear chirping and see a flashing LED. We stock the correct replacement batteries and can swap one in quickly so you're never stuck in the garage during a storm.

FAQ

LiftMaster questions

Do you stock LiftMaster parts, or will I have to wait for an order?

We carry the most common LiftMaster parts right on the truck — belts, chains, rollers, safety sensors, remotes, gear kits, and backup batteries — so most repairs are done same day. For a less common part on an older or commercial model, we'll order the genuine LiftMaster component and get back out as soon as it lands.

My LiftMaster is pretty old. Is it worth repairing or should I replace it?

Honestly, it depends on the unit. If your opener is under 12 to 15 years old and the fix is a belt, sensor, or remote, repairing it is the smart, affordable move. If it's older, lacks rolling-code security, or has a failing motor, a new LiftMaster with myQ and battery backup is usually the better long-term value. We'll give you a straight answer either way — no pressure to upgrade if you don't need to.

Can you set up the myQ app and smart features for me?

Absolutely. Whether we're installing a new LiftMaster or you just never got around to it, we'll connect your opener to Wi-Fi, set up the myQ app on your phone, pair any cameras or keypads, and make sure remote open-and-close and notifications all work before we leave.

My garage door won't close and the LiftMaster light is blinking — what do I do?

Take a breath — this is one of the most common LiftMaster issues and it's usually an easy fix. A blinking light almost always means the safety sensors near the floor are misaligned or blocked. Check that nothing's in the way and that both sensor lights are solid. If the door still won't close and you need it secured, give us a call and we'll get someone out, often the same day.
