Linear Repair & Service
Linear has been a go-to name in garage door openers and gate operators for decades, best known for reliable residential and commercial drives plus the MegaCode and MultiCode remotes a lot of folks still have clipped to their visor. Today the brand lives under Nice/Nortek Control, but plenty of Linear openers are still humming along in garages across the country. Whatever Linear unit you've got, our techs at Garage Door Pros service, repair, and replace it.

Remote or keypad suddenly stops working
Linear's MegaCode and MultiCode remotes are dependable, but when one quits it's usually a dead remote battery, a remote that needs re-learning to the receiver, or a wireless keypad whose code got wiped. We can reprogram your remotes and keypad on the spot, and if your older MultiCode receiver has finally given out, we'll get you onto a current Linear receiver that plays nice with your existing remotes where possible.
Opener runs but the door doesn't move
If the motor hums or the lights flash but the door stays put, the trolley has often disengaged from the carriage (someone may have pulled the red emergency release), or the drive gear and sprocket inside the head are worn down. These are common on higher-mileage Linear screw-drive and chain-drive units. We'll re-engage the trolley or rebuild the drive so your door moves smoothly again.
Safety sensors out of alignment
When your Linear opener reverses on its own or won't close unless you hold the wall button, it's almost always the photo-eye safety sensors near the floor. A bumped bracket, a dirty lens, or a loose wire throws them off and the opener refuses to close as a safety measure. We realign and re-secure the sensors so the door closes the first time, every time.
Wall control or 'learn' button not responding
A Linear opener that won't respond to the wall console or won't enter programming mode can point to a failed logic board, a stuck Learn button, or chewed-up low-voltage wiring between the console and the head. We diagnose the board, replace it if needed, and re-run the wire so your everyday controls work again.
Loud grinding or rattling during operation
Linear chain-drive and screw-drive openers can get noisy as the chain stretches, the rail dries out, or the internal gears wear. Grinding in particular often means the plastic drive gear is stripping. We lubricate and adjust what we can, and swap the gear kit before it strands you with a door that won't budge.
Door reverses before it reaches the floor
If your Linear door starts down and then backs up before hitting the ground, the close-force or travel limits have drifted out of adjustment, or there's binding in the door's springs and rollers fooling the opener into thinking it hit something. We reset the limits and force settings and check the door's hardware so it seats fully on the floor.

Linear questions
My garage door won't open and my car's stuck inside. Can you help today?
Absolutely, and we know how stressful that is, especially when you're trying to get out the door. Give us a call and we'll get a tech out to you fast. In the meantime, if it's safe to do so, you can pull the red emergency release cord to operate the door by hand, just be ready for the weight. We'll handle the Linear repair once we're on-site.
Is Linear still in business? Can I still get my opener serviced?
Yes. The Linear brand is now part of Nice/Nortek Control, and parts and receivers are still available. Even for older MultiCode and MegaCode units, we can usually source what's needed or get you a compatible current replacement. There's no need to swap out a working opener just because it's a few years old.
Can you reprogram my Linear MegaCode or MultiCode remote?
We can. Whether you bought a new car remote, lost a clicker, or your wireless keypad stopped responding, we'll re-learn your remotes and keypad to the opener's receiver and test everything before we leave. If you've got an aging MultiCode receiver that's failing, we'll talk you through your options.
Should I repair my old Linear opener or replace it?
It depends on the unit and what's failing. A worn drive gear, a bad sensor, or a dead remote is usually a straightforward, affordable fix. But if the logic board is shot on a very old model and parts are scarce, a new opener can be the smarter long-term call. We'll give you an honest read on both so you can decide, no pressure.
